Jeff King and Glenn Pennyfather have already started to mould their Chelmsford City squad for another promotion push in the Blue Square South during the next campaign with the release of seven of last season’s squad.
With a view towards a busy summer on the transfer front where the team will be refreshed and added to, the management team have taken the option of releasing defenders Andy Duncan and Ian Cousins, midfielders Sam Sloma and Spencer Knight, forwards Lawrie Dudfield and Chris Moore as well as goalkeeper Danny Gay.
Speaking on the subject, Pennyfather explained wherever the players ended up next season their future clubs will be picking up great quality: “We’d like to offer our thanks to these players for what they’ve done for us at Chelmsford City and we know they’ll be equally appreciated wherever they go. They all have our very best wishes and the task is now on for us to build a squad ready to challenge for promotion next season.”
Glenn confirmed a number of other existing players have been given the option of proving themselves again in pre-season alongside the quality additions they intend to bring to the club. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that youngsters Josh Brown and Ricky Modeste will be staying with the club after impressing during 2008/09.
