CHELMSFORD fell just short against Wanstead & Snaresbrook as their form in the Shepherd Neame Essex League continued to fluctuate.
Having been put in to field, Chelmsford were unable to halt Wanstead & Snaresbrook’s Kishen Velani.
The former Essex man scored 110 from 115 balls to help the hosts onto 181/5 but Chelmsford rattled off the remainder of the wickets without too much fuss.
Ben Waring took 3/34, while Ben Clifford and Oliver Devenish claimed two wickets each as Wanstead & Snaresbrook were dismissed for 228.
Nick Prowting scored 70 as Chelmsford responded but the rest of the order failed to impress.
Sean Sullivan was 37 not out at the close but he could not inspire Chelmsford closer to the total as they were dismissed for 216.
The result leaves the team in sixth position in the standings.
The 2s were five wicket winners against Wanstead & Snaresbrook.
Away side Wanstead scored 252/9 in 45 overs, with Ismail Dar’s 73 the best on offer.
Stuart Everard and Matt Davis took three wickets each.
Miles Clark scored 92 and James Gruijters hit 53 as Chelmsford passed the target in the 42nd over.
