POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fight outside a Chelmsford pub at the weekend.
Four people received injuries following the disturbance at the Flyer, at Dickens Place, in Newlands Spring.
None of the injuries were serious and no one was taken to hospital. They mainly involved cuts and bruises.
A spokesman for Essex Police said the incident, which took place at around 6pm, was not related to the England versus Germany World Cup match which had taken place earlier.
He also said a firearm was discharged during the fracas and police were appealing for anyone to come forward who may know who was responsible.
Dominic Pisarek, manager of the Flyer pub, said: “This is a well-run pub serving food to families and an incident like this is so rare, it’s completely unheard of. “The staff acted quickly and professionally to diffuse the situation. “We do not tolerate any type of behaviour like this in our pub, where providing a safe environment for our customers is our main priority. “We are currently doing everything we can to help the police with their inquiries.”
Three men were arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences.
They were a 36- year-old and 42-year-old from Chelmsford and a 43-year-old from Braintree. They have all been released on police bail until August 25.
