HYLANDS Park will be awash with ladies in pink at the weekend.

The Chelmsford Race for Life takes place on Sunday and women can still take part.

Entries for Cancer Research UK’s two races close at midnight tonight (July 1).

Already 6,500 women have accepted the charity’s invitation to sign up for the 5k and 10k women-only events on Sunday, July 4.

The 5k is at 11am and the 10k at 2.30pm. Gill Burgess, Chelmsford event manager for Race for Life, said: “We are absolutely thrilled so many women will be taking part in Race for Life in Chelmsford.

“Together, they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere and raise crucial funds to help beat cancer.

“We don’t want anyone to miss out. There are limited places left for the Hylands Park event, so we are reminding women who want to take part at this venue they must enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Last year 6,000 women took part in Race for Life in Chelmsford and helped raise an incredible £443,768. This year the charity hopes 7,500 will hit a fundraising target of £538,750.

Gill added: “Race for Life is a fantastic experience, with local women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes coming together to make a positive difference to the lives of people touched by cancer.

“The event will be full of amazing moments, from lining up at the start, side-by-side with other women, to reading the signs worn by participants, to the fantastic sense of achievement from crossing the finish line.”

Nivea’s male cheerleaders will also be there.
