THE 2010 Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run has been launched at Boreham Airfield.
All the organisations involved in the event, now in its 11th year, came together to give it a flying start.
Essex Wings started the first run in 2000 and the fundraising event raised more than £42,000 last year.
It will take place on Sunday, September 12, with an expected 5,000 bikers making the 60-mile ride from Ford Dunton to Harwich.
Wendy Byland, events manager for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust, said: “As in 2009, the run promises to be a fantastic event for motorbike fans, bike riders and the public alike.
“Last year’s anniversary event smashed all previous records with an estimated 5,000 bikers taking part, raising more than £42,000 for the county’s lifesaving helicopter.
“We are so grateful for the ongoing generosity and support of bikers from all over the county, without which the helicopter simply could not fly.”
Essex Air Ambulance is encouraging bikers to pre-register to be entered into a prize draw to win a BMW F650 GS motorcycle, worth £6,500.
