ON your bike. Chelmsford’s first bike festival was attended by around 300 people on Saturday, June 19.
Held to celebrate the start of National Bike Week, the event in Central Park included grass track racing around a custom-made circuit.
It was for novice children racers and 12 took part in three different races.
Trial bike displays put on by Essex Trails and Jump Centre were a particularly big hit with the crowd and some spectators even plucking up the courage to have a go themselves.
The rain during the day didn’t dampen the spirits of the many visitors.
Chelmsford Council’s cycling development officer, Matt Ewings, said: “I think the day was a success as it’s the first time we’ve held an event of this nature in Chelmsford.
“The aim for next year will be to make it bigger and better.”
