A BUTCHER has told how his son was “feeling sheepish” after crashing into his shop.
Stephen Smith, 17, was at the wheel of the car when it skidded and careered into the shop in Boreham just before 1am on Sunday morning.
Stephen’s dad, Andrew, who runs the shop A G Smith, on the corner of Main Road and Plantation Road, with his brother explained: “The most important thing is no-one was injured.
“He lost control and skidded into the shop. I think it was down to inexperience. He had not been drinking.”
Andrew said his son had not been driving very long.
He added: “I know he is feeling very sheepish about it, as people are coming into the shop and asking what happened.
“He hit a storage room next to the shop, which has been shored up, and we are waiting for the insurance to be sorted out.
“He had picked up his two brothers and was on his way home. We are just pleased no -ne was injured – I think it has taught him a lesson.”
Andrew said the shop area had not been affected by the collision and it was open as usual.
Three fire appliances attended the crash. The brothers were already out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived at the scene.
One received medical attention and was later taken to hospital by ambulance.
A spokesman for Essex Police said the circumstances surrounding the crash were being investigated.
