A DECISION on whether Essex Cricket Club can develop its Chelmsford ground has been delayed yet again.

The Secretary of State was due to give his ruling before June 10 after a public inquiry took place last year.

The club wants to build 427 houses to finance improvements at the ground, which include new stands, pavilion and car park Now the decision has been put back until the end of the month.

The reason for the delay follows the General Election.

The Department of Communities and Local Government says administrative arrangements need to be finalised following the appointment of the new ministerial team and the need for “careful consideration of this case”.
