Police and firefighters were called to the scene of a car which was 100 per cent alight in Chelmsford.
It took fire crews nearly an hour to put out the fire, which was reported at about 1.30pm yesterday.
One person was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
The East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "At the scene, a female believed to be in her 50s was treated before being conveyed to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment."
Police assisted at the incident scene because the car was blocking both Waveley Road and Lawn Lane.
