Ivan Cottee Passed away peacefully at St. Dominic's care home on 26th April 2017 aged 85 years. Loving Husband to Sheila, Father to Glenn, Nigel and Trevor and Grandad to Lewis, Danielle, Cian, Amy, Zoe-Louise, Nicole and Sharelle. He will be sadly missed by all. Ivan, formerly of Silver end and Braintree, spent all of his married life in Witham. He was well known to many from the Witham, Kelvedon and Feering areas as 'the Man from the Pru'. Through his regular visits he developed many friends and acquaintances whom he often recalled with affection. Following generations of the Cottee family in Witham, Ivan's roots he felt, were firmly as 'a Witham man', and he had so many stories and anecdotes from the history of Witham, he could have written a book. As a community man, Ivan was involved with the local Constitutional Club in Witham as Secretary for well over 30 years and latterly as President for the Eastern Region. In retirement, Ivan fulfilled many dreams and seemed to have travelled the whole world. His favourite destination being America where he made several return visits. Ivan was a lifelong supporter of Ipswich Town and Chelsea football clubs, keen follower of Essex cricket club and passionate follower of Cricket, and indeed nearly all sports. As a younger man he was a winner of many Billiard & Snooker trophies, playing in the Pretyman league around the Chelmsford area for the Constitutional club. The family would sincerely wish to thank the kind and dedicated staff at St. Dominic's in Kelvedon for their care and support for Ivan as well as the family in his last few months. Ivan's funeral service will be held at the Southern Chapel, Chelmsford Crematorium on May 25th at 14:30. Family flowers only please.
