Congestion around Benfleet is also not helped by lane closures between Sadlers and Tarpots.
Current closures will now be lifted by the morning rush hour on Monday, Essex County Councillor Andrew Sheldon has confirmed.
Future eastbound lane closures are not taking place until after GCSE exam season while a westbound lane closure will remain in place.
Essex Police, East of England Ambulance Service and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance have been contacted for comment.
