A SHOP has opened in Chelmsford to offer help and training to foster carers in the city.
Fostering Solutions have set up a store in Duke Street which will act as a central point for fosterers signed up to the agency with Essex fast bowler Tymal Mills cutting the ribbon.
On offer inside will be qualified social workers to answer queries and offer advice along with training courses for carers.
The opening comes as the agency look to increase their base around the UK and bosses from the company said they are pleased Vince McGrath, regional service manager, said: “We’re excited to have opened our doors in Chelmsford to be able to offer support to the local community.
“We feel the drop-in style office will make it easier for people to take that first step and also allow us to offer on-going support locally.
“Our doors are open to all, whether they are an existing carer or just looking to find out some more information on foster care.”
Linda Harrington, who is one of the company’s foster carers, said the work done by them is a fantastic help to people like her.
She urged anyone in Chelmsford interested in getting involved as a fosterer to speak to Fostering Solutions.
The 54-year-old from Bury St Edmunds said: “Fostering has made me wiser and has taught me to appreciate what I have.
“It has certainly made my family more considerate of others and more grateful for what they have.”
